Firstly a big thank you to everyone who came to see The Stitch Society and our aprons at the Selvedge Fair last Saturday, we had a fabulous day and meet some truly wonderful people including Mrs Bertimus, Kate Whitehead and all the Selvedge team.
Our aprons are packed again and ready for The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester on the 12th – 15th October which is celebrating its 10th edition in October 2017, the multi award-winning GNCCF is one of the leading selling events for contemporary craft in the UK, attracting over 6000 visitors, it showcases contemporary craft to buy from carefully selected designer-makers and includes makers in ceramics, glass, jewellery, interior and fashion textiles, wood, paper, silver, metal, product design, print-making…. the list goes on!
The GNCCF shows work from new and established makers, from emerging graduates to high end makers. It’s a great show as visitors can chat to the makers and buy or commission work directly from them.
As part of their 10th anniversary in 2017 they have partnered with Design Manchester Festival which offers more than 50 events in locations all over Manchester from 11 to 22 October 2017, including the Design Conference, the annual Great Debate, the Design City Weekender and numerous exhibitions, talks, workshops and parties. For details of all festival events, visit www.designmcr.com.
The GNCCF is organised by Great Northern Events NW Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation set up in 2007 to champion high quality and cutting edge contemporary craft in the North, by giving designer-makers a platform to promote and sell their work, and engaging and developing new audiences of buyers and collectors and since 2008, the GNCCF has become a much-anticipated highlight in the North’s cultural calendar. It was voted Small Event of the Year at Manchester’s Tourism Awards 2014, having previously won in 2011, and was a Finalist in the Northern Design Awards 2013.
It really is one of the highlights of the craft year and having attended before as a visitor, we were over the moon to be accepted this year as an exhibitor. A full list of all the exhibitors can be seen on their website http://www.greatnorthernevents.co.uk/ and tickets can be bought by clicking here
