Workwear and Clothing

The Stitch Society grew from our passion for textiles, the need for comfortable and durable workwear, and a desire to make in in the heart of the textile industry’s heritage of West Yorkshire.

All our aprons and our studio clothing range are all made by us from UK sourced and  manufactured fabrics as we recognise the need to create sustainable, durable workwear with minimal environmental impact.

This has been our mission from the start and our commitment to this remains as strong today as it ever was.

Simple because form follows function and comfort is our priority. We test all our products on real people in real life.

Stylish because if you look good, you feel good.

By investing in our range of clothing and workwear, you are investing in yourself.

Sustainable because we always work with sustainability in mind. We source as locally as possible, minimise our waste, reusing and repurposing where we can and offer our 10 year guarantee so you can assured that our garments will last as long as they possible can.

Sustainability

We strive to make the most durable garments we can because we hate waste. Why replace your apron when you can buy one that you love, knowing it will be repaired and is guaranteed to last you 10 years or more, staying true to the philosophy of “Buy Once, Buy Well”.

Mending, repairing and repurposing are an integral part of our philosophy.

Our range has grown over the last few years and we now make sturdy work jackets, stylish coats, linen smocks and dresses – all with same attention to detail, in the same quality fabrics all with, of course, pockets. All our garments are made in our studio in Yorkshire

We are also members of Blue Patch, the Sustainable Business Directory, regularly working with them on projects throughout the UK raising the awareness of the importance of sustainability in the textiles and clothing industries.

With a shocking 90% of workwear ending up in landfill, in December 2023 we were awarded an Innovate UK grant to investigate how the lifespan of workwear can be extended with resale, repurposing and recycling. Please email hello@thestitchsociety.com for more details.

Sampling and Production

As well as our own branded products, we also provide sampling and CMT manufacture for other businesses, providing pattern development, sampling and production runs.

We have worked closely with the UKFT in the past developing training programmes and apprenticeships for industrial sewing machinists in the textile manufacturing industry and have been members of Make It British for a number of years.

Please get in touch via our contact form on our Sampling and Production page if you require further information.

Trade & Wholesale

As well as retailing our branded clothing online, we can offer bespoke clothing and workwear ranges to retail partners which include museums and galleries, curated lifestyle shops and garden centres, creating exclusive ranges for our wholesale customers.

For Bespoke Enquiries and if you are interested in working with us to create a range for your store or outlet, please complete the form on our page and we will be in touch as soon as we can.

  1. Hi Charlotte
Loved reading your article on the Make it British site.
I’m working on the marketing and place making of The Piece Hall in Halifax, and the re opening of it after a £20 million renovation. As you probably know it has huge textile heritage, and I wondered if there was any merit in us meeting up to discuss your project, and maybe some tie ins? I created a project called Totally Locally which has travelled the world and is about promoting local businesses and manufacturing, so it’s a subject close to my heart.
Let me know if you would like to come over and visit – it’s pretty spectacular! And we can see if there is anything we could do together. Best Wishes, Chris

  2. Please could you let me know if your beginners dressmaker course is being run in the morning. I can’t seem to find it to book onto only the evening sessions.
