Welcome to the Pocket Book from The Stitch Society for the 21st December – slightly later the planned but full of festive ideas for your Christmas.

  • Eco Christmas

We are big champions of sustainability and loved this article in Elle Decoration, How to Have a Sustainable and Considered Christmas, with ideas of how to have a more sustainable Christmas. This year we have done away with Christmas cards in lieu of actually seeing people, making a phone call or arranging a meet up in the New Year. The idea behind a sustainable Christmas is that the thought is more important than the gift, so make an effort this Christmas, bake a cake, give a helping hand or just take time to sit with someone longer than usual.

  • Making

The BBC asked the question “What would the world look like if everyone started to buy less stuff and make more?” in their Radio 4 programme. Instead of harping back to the past, this takes a look at the rise of contemporary crafting and the impact this is having on our economy. The adage of buy once, buy better hopefully starting to make sense. Click HERE to have a listen and tell us what you think…

  • Festive Tipple

Olive Magazine have their best ever Christmas Cocktail recipes to impress your guests with this winter. Try twists on mulled wine, spiced negronis, warming chai cocktails and plenty of festive fizz.

  • Good Read

It might not be snowing yet, and you may have to work until the 24th, but you can still get into the festive spirit with the Penguin selection of favourite Christmas reads.
