Our Story

We started in Keighley in 2013 having identified a need for smart, practical, sustainable workwear for artists and makers and have grown organically over the last 10 years, staying true to our ethos of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and UK manufacture, becoming known for providing high-quality sustainable manufacturing for other UK businesses.

Our business developed from a love of textiles, a drive to make sustainable aprons adhering to the principles of a circular economy. We were awarded an Innovate UK grant in 2024 and have been working to develop innovative, sustainable options for garment manufacturing in the UK.

Being involved in setting up the Textile Academy at Keighley College, we still work closely with Invest in Bradford, Skills House and UKFT.org. Local community and businesses are important to us and we are involved Bradford Manufacturing Weeks, Bradford Science Festival and the Keighley Towns Fund Board.

Textiles and sustainability have always been at the heart of our work and we believe the best way to move towards a more sustainable future is small changes, small steps, with small businesses.

Our Mission

All our aprons and our studio clothing range are all made by us from UK sourced and manufactured fabrics as we recognise the need to create sustainable, durable workwear with minimal environmental impact. This has been our mission from the start and our commitment to this remains as strong today as it ever was.

Simple because form follows function and comfort is our priority. We test all our products on real people in real life.
Stylish because if you look good, you feel good.By investing in our range of clothing and workwear, you are investing in yourself.

Sustainable because we always work with sustainability in mind. We source as locally as possible, minimise our waste, reusing and repurposing where we can and offer our 10 year guarantee so you can assured that our garments will last as long as they possibly can.

The Stitch Society Values

We hope our garments add value not only to you but to your work or your daily life. We do this through our designs, our attentions to detail and our customer service.

We love the garments we design, are passionate about the fabrics we use, the quality of our garments, their comfort, and durability.

We exist to provide an alternative to the fast fashion experience, The Stitch Society is about building a relationship, a long-lasting relationship, it’s about quality and comfort.

We have built our reputation for quality manufacturing with other businesses working with Wyedean Weaving, The Sculpture Park, Gleneagles Hotel and the Westmoreland Group.

As well as our own branded products, we also provide sampling and CMT manufacture for other businesses, providing pattern development, sampling and production runs, all with sustainability and waste minimization at the core of our work.

We also work with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and are part of their Sustainability Peer Network, meeting with and developing ideas with other like-minded businesses in west Yorkshire
